Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Health & Wellness Specialist located at the Columbus General Office in Columbus, NE, Gerald Gentleman Station in Sutherland, NE, Sheldon Station in Hallam, NE, or the York Operations Center in York, NE. Position will be posted for no less then 14 days beginning on January 1 and will remain open until the position is filled.
The incumbent provides expert guidance to management and is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of the medical and wellness programs. The incumbent coordinates and performs medical testing in accordance with state and federal regulations and NPPD's procedures and protocols. The incumbent implements and maintains a wellness program targeted at promoting healthier lifestyles for employees and reducing medical costs.
Education:
Associates Degree in Business or the Medical Field and three years' related medical experience (OR) High School Diploma and six years' related medical experience.
Prior Related Experience:
Related medical or medical administration experience is required, occupational health experience preferred. General clerical/office experience with increasing responsibilities required. Experience using Occupational Health Manager software is desired. Related medical experience and knowledge of medical terminology beneficial.

Works independently to organize, schedule and conduct on-site medical testing and examinations. Provides guidance and oversight of contracted medical personnel. Effectively interacts with management at all levels in the organization to schedule testing as needed to ensure employees are medically qualified to safely perform their jobs. Ability to successfully collaborate with others is required.
Travel to various locations throughout NPPD's service area to conduct medical testing, and related assignments. Travel will include weekend, evening, and overnight assignments.
Research and interpret occupational health standards, state and federal regulations and Center for Disease Control guidelines; develop and/or update corresponding District health standards; and provide guidance to SAFE Committee and NPPD managers to assist with compliance with regulatory mandate and health related questions. Ensure that participating colleagues meet the medical requirements provided by state and federal regulations and coordinate post offer physicals and annual medical exams and evaluations.
Assist management with contracts with external vendors (NPPD Medical Director, physicians, medical facilities, vendors and consultants) as required to ensure effective implementation and administration of the NPPD Medical and Wellness Program. Provide program related reports (incentive qualifiers, employees due for testing, etc.); analyze the data for accuracy, process reports and make appropriate recommendations to management, employees, and external customers.
Maintain responsibility of Occupational Health Manager (OHM) software management ensuring effective operation, timely updates, and resolution of identified problems. Update District-specific medical tracking criteria; explore additional streamlining opportunities, assist with OHM SAP interface and ensure program user familiarity. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and contracted medical professionals to meet the medical program requirements. Follow policies and procedures to support the Health and Wellness programs.
Pay Grade - 11 Monthly
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $5,260.00 - $6,575.00
Travel Required: Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
