We're Hiring: Journeyperson 1 (Insulation Mechanic)!

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Journeyperson 1 (Insulation Mechanic) to join our team in Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will support shipyard insulation work ensuring quality workmanship while adhering to safety standards.

Location: Norfolk, VA
Role: Journeyperson 1 (Insulation Mechanic)

What You'll Do:

Understand ship terminology and navigate vessel compartments.
Read tape measures and insulation tools (knives, scissors, pliers, snips).
Assist in laying out overhead and bulkhead structures.
Help install sheet rubber, tube rubber, and fiber glass pipe coverings.
Identify and install proper insulation materials for various systems.
Install fiberglass cloth on piping, ducting and engine system.
Tape seams and install hull boards of various thicknesses.
Fabricate and install box beams and wraps.
Maintain safety and proper PPE usage at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

Entry-level shipyard or mechanical experience preferred.
Strong understanding of basic tools and materials used in insulation.
Ability to follow instructions and perform physical tasks safely
Familiarity with ship structure layout is a plus.
Must be dependable, safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
