Job Description

Salary: $150,000 - 180,000 per year Requirements:

  • We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in solutions architecture, with a minimum of 5 years in the robotics field.
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a software engineering team.
  • A demonstrated history of successfully transitioning projects from research and development to deployment.
  • Strong knowledge of robotics and automation technologies, particularly those involving computer vision, transformational geometry, kinematics, and machine learning.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting with IoT, MES, and SCADA is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities with strategic and analytical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of driving consensus and collaborating effectively with leaders in manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and edge/fog computing architectures.
  • Awareness of industry standards and regulations related to manufacturing and digital technology.
Responsibilities:
  • In the role of Principal Software Engineer – Robotics, you will:
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Innovation team to craft and implement software strategies that align with our roadmap and corporate initiatives.
  • Assess new technologies and applications, taking into account cross-functional trade-offs such as performance, cost, risk, complexity, and scalability.
  • Provide technical leadership and best practice guidance for custom software development projects to ensure high standards in architectural qualities including maintainability, security, performance, scalability, observability, ease of integration, and long-term sustainability.
  • Define and document software requirements for Manufacturing Innovation projects, interacting with both internal and external hardware and software development teams.
  • Drive consensus and encourage collaboration with leaders in manufacturing operations, innovation, and IT to ensure alignment and successful implementation of digital initiatives.
  • Advocate for the needs of the Manufacturing Innovation team when assessing company-wide manufacturing solutions, including SCADA, MES, and IoT.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure the successful deployment and adoption of robotics, automation, IoT, and digital manufacturing systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, encompassing architecture diagrams, design specifications, and user manuals.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to guarantee that our manufacturing operations remain at the cutting edge of innovation.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments for proposed solutions.
  • Provide hands-on management of a team comprised of experienced technical leads.
